The New York Building Congress is tasked with ensuring the long-term sustainability and prosperity of building and construction in New York City — a mission that requires a website that can keep up with their work.
NYBC engaged BFC Digital to redesign its website with the goal of modernizing their digital presence and better serving a diverse membership base across the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. The organization needed a platform that could showcase their advocacy efforts, research publications, and events while highlighting the strength of their member network.
A custom membership portal allows users to manage profiles, access exclusive content, and register for events with ease. We implemented Single Sign-On (SSO), integrated with NYBC’s pre-existing membership platform — MC Trade — enabling these users to login to both the website and the platform at the same time.
This solution allowed NYBC to harness the strengths of both its membership platform and its new website for, without creating a cumbersome process for users. Members can now view members-only content, and have a personalized experience while browsing the website. This solution is a great example of how a members-based organization can use its website to accomplish tasks that its membership software alone might not be able to accomplish — all the while creating a unified, easy-to-manage experience for both users and the organization’s staff.
The redesigned site features a bold, contemporary look that reflects the organization’s leadership role in shaping New York City’s built environment. The result is a dynamic, user-friendly website that supports the Building Congress’s mission and growth for years to come.
One of the key benefits of the member login system we setup is the ability to access exclusive resources. To hold these resources, and allow users to conveniently find, search, and view them, we needed to build out a flexible, modernized resource library that integrated with our login system.
Events, reports, news articles, and many other content types got a brand-new look, using a powerful custom-built resource library to give a uniform display and striking look and feel to each type of resource in NYBC’s repetoire. Users can easily search for what they’re looking for, and filter by type or tag as needed. The design of both the library and the resource pages themselves incorporate NYBC’s clean, professional look-and-feel, making the browsing experience extremely convenient for audiences.
User accessibility and ease of navigation was another key component here. The design is visual-friendly, allowing for the use of bold imagery and clean visuals to guide users to where they need to go. Additionally, this site (along with all of the sites we build!) is WCAG compliant, enabling users of all ability levels to have an enjoyable browsing experience.
